PCMC NCP corporator Datta Sane succumbs to COVID-19
Pimpri-Chinchwad, July 4, 2020: Nationalist Congress Party corporator of Pimpri-Chinchwad area, Datta Sane died due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at a private hospital on Saturday morning. He was tested COVID-19 positive on June 25, and was undergoing treatment for the same at a PCMC-based private hospital.
Sane complained of breathlessness, informed his relatives. During the pandemic led lockdown, Sane had undertaken the task of distributing ration to several poor and needy people in his jurisdiction.
He was thrice elected as a corporator from Chikali. He was also a former opposition leader in the PCMC area. Sane was known to be helpful and took measures to resolve problems in the city. To resolve the garbage issue in the area, he had once dumped all the garbage at the PCMC gate, because of which he had grabbed the attention of public representatives and PCMC officers. Sane was a close associate of deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
Statement from Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital stating the medical summary: “He had known case of DM and High Blood Pressure on medication, he was admitted in the hospital on 24/06/2020 with complaints of throat pain, stomach pain, and mild breathlessness for 2 to 3 days with COVID-19 positive reports done from a lab. He had a history of contact with COVID-19 positive person. On the very first day of admission, his Oxygen level was low and was on supplemental oxygen. X-ray showed pneumonia on the left lower side. Treatment was started immediately on admission according to standard guidelines. The cardiologist’s opinion was also taken, which was normal. Repeated series of investigations were done.
In spite of aggressive treatment, his symptoms deteriorated rapidly. Hence, he was shifted to ICU. He was put on a non-invasive ventilator. Inspite of all, no improvement was noticed. Convalescent Plasma therapy was also considered and given. He was lastly taken on the ventilator but succumbed to his illness on 04/07/2020 at 5:39 am.
During the entire course of his admission and treatment, his family members were counseled and updated. We as a team of ABMH have taken every possible care and considered interventions with the concurrence of family members.”
