PCMC, Pimpri Chinchwad police collect over Rs one crore fine from people in lockdown

Pimpri, 20 July 2020: Amid strict implementation of the lockdown last week to stem rising COVID-19 cases, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad police were on their toes. Now, it has emerged that they managed to nab hundreds of offenders breaking the rules, to the extent that over Rs one crore fine was collected from them.

 

Police have registered 30,821 cases against people, traders for using a vehicle without passes, opening shops, not maintaining physical distance etc. Till now 5102 vehicles have been seized by police. Liquor worth Rs 2.18 crores have been seized. 6664 cases were filed for not wearing a mask.

Police and PCMC collected Rs 54.6 lakhs fine from 1820 handcart vendors, Rs 25.35 lakhs from 169 three-wheeler/four-wheeler tempo. Rs 25 lakhs was collected from 2500 people for various offences like using a weighing machine wrongly etc.
