PCMC to join hands with MSLTA to promote tennis at Grassroots level
Pimpri , 2nd June 2022 : One of the foremost Municipal Corporations in the state and the country Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will be joining hands with Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association for promotion and inclusion of players , coaches and development of tennis in PCMC area
This Cooperation between PCMC and MSLTA will give much needed impetus to tennis in the PCMC area which is gaining popularity , there are over 22 courts in the PCMC area and good number of tennis players in all age groups ,has been the missing link in the system is lack of proper guidance to players and a good competitive tournament structure , said Mr Rajesh Patil Municipal Commissioner of PCMC

In the initial phase Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association will be hosting the MSLTA Suhana Smart 10 State Ranking Tennis Tournament at Nigdi tennis courts on 4-6 June 2022 . An MSLTA Coaches Certification and Upgradation Course on 26, 27,28,29,30 June 2022
The purpose of the coaches programme is to enable and empower local coaches in the PCMC area to upgrade , update and integrate with the current coaching techniques. This course will help the coaches and improve the standard of coaching in the area as the new techniques imparted will help the young children from PCMC eventually , added Mr. Nandu Rokade, Tournament Director.
In future we will request PCMC to hand over tennis facilities created by the Corporation to only those coaches who have certification as this will raise the standard of players from PCMC , added Sunder Iyer
Apart from this In August PCMC and MSLTA will be organising a camp for players from talented and ranked players from PCMC area playing competitive tennis at MSLTA Sports Science Center facilities situated at MSLTA Mumbai
In the coming year PCMC and MSLTA will also be organising a National level ideally Womens or Mens Interstate championships for the first time apart from AITA Junior ranking events in PCMC area in October / November .
MSLTA is also in talks with PCMC to create a state of art facility in the corporation area which can host International tennis events in the coming years
