14 players in lead at 1st Pune Open Below 2000 FIDE Rating Chess Championship

Pune, June 2, 2022: Local boy Sai Balkawade playing with white registered a  stunning win over higher rated Srilankan player Liyanage Pesandu Rashmitha  to take the lead with 14 other players at the end  of the third round   on the second day of the 1st Pune Open Below 2000 FIDE Rating Chess Championship being played  concurrently with the Maharashtra Open GM tournament at the Boxing Hall of the Mhalunge Balewadi sports complex.

Playing on white board Balkawde with a rating of 1581 shocked Liyanage who enjoys a rating of 1902,  Nikhil M  , AIM Sooraj M R,  Shanmukha Pulli,   Nameet Chavan, AGM Kiran Panditrao,  Vishrut Parekh,   Sanjeev Mishra, Om Nagnath Lamkane, Ankit Chudasama, Sohil Shaikh    , Gajanan Jayade   Vigneshwaran S , Mandar Lad  were amongst the leaders at the end of round three
