PCMC To Send Concerns To Higher Ups Through SARATHI
Pune, 9th November 2022: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh announced that if a citizen’s complaint through SARATHI (System of Assisting Residents and Tourists through Helpline Information) is not resolved after two attempts, it will be forwarded to the additional municipal commissioner.
Since its inception in 2013, SARATHI has been a hit with the twin town’s residents, allowing them to register any civic issue, such as water, water logging, garbage, encroachments, and so on, either online or by phone. However, there have recently been several complaints on Twitter and other social media platforms about complaints not being resolved on time or being closed abruptly.
This citizen-friendly system drew the attention of the Union Ministry, which initiated the process of bringing SARATHI across the country, stating that it can be adopted by all municipal corporations and councils that fall under the purview of the Smart Cities Mission or the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut), the latter of which has already selected at least 500 cities to benefit from its schemes, including Pimpri-Chinchwad.
