Karnataka, February 20, 2021: The Karnataka government has issued a notice looking into the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the neighboring state of Maharashtra. This notice states that for those who want to come to the state by flight, bus, train or private means, have to show a negative RT-PCR report, which is not more than 72 hours old.
The state Health Minister stated, “Currently on an average 4000-5000 new corona cases are being reported in Kerala, while 5000-6000 cases are being reported daily in Maharashtra. We share the border with them. Therefore, we have issued this notice.”
He said, “Unless we see the RT-PCR negative report of people coming from these states, they will not be allowed to enter Karnataka.”
The Health Minister also said that they have not found any South African or Brazilian strains of Covid-19. Everything they’ve found is similar to the Covid-19 strain in the UK, only among travelers who came to Bangalore from the UK. They have curbed its infection in their society.
Several states of the country including Kerala and Maharashtra have seen an increase in cases of coronavirus in a week. This rise in cases has spiked the fear of new mutations of the virus. In addition to Karela and Maharashtra, cases of Covid-19 have increased rapidly in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh as well.
