New Delhi, February 26, 2021: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced today that the prices of petrol and diesel will decrease as the winter season ends.

He stated that “The increase in the price of petroleum in the international market is impacting consumers. Prices will fall as winter passes.”

Pradhan said that “This is an international matter and prices are going up due to an increase in demand. It happens occasionally in winter.”

In a special interview with ANI, Pradhan said that prices will come down as the winter season passes. The Union Minister said that the North Eastern Region, which includes Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim, are essential for the country’s oil and gas sector.

The first oil deposits in the country were discovered near Digboi and Duliajan regions of Assam and about 18 percent of the country’s oil resources are located in the Northeast Region (NER) which includes Assam, Arunachal, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. Most of the areas here are full of oil and gas fields.

He said that after the Modi government came to power in 2014, “we had decided to build crude pipeline, gas pipeline infrastructure, and increase gas generation capacity.”

The prices of LPG, Petrol, and Diesel are continuously increasing in the country. The government is constantly being questioned by opposition parties on the matter. Opposition parties staged protests in various parts of the country over the hike in diesel and petrol prices.
