Pimpri Chinchwad, June 2, 2020: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) run Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital has a 15-bed intensive care unit (ICU) for corona patients. Since there is no space left for new patients, the hospital administration has converted ward no 602 into an ICU now.

However, to prevent the spread of COVID19 infection, a distance of at least one and a half meters should be kept between the two beds. Also, there are 750 beds in total available in the hospital; with a capacity of 30 patients who can be admitted in one ward. The hospital currently can admit only 575 patients.

Moreover, as the number of patients increases, it may put extra stress on the YCM hospital. There are 500 beds available. Some patients with mild symptoms of COVID19 have been moved there. Besides, some patients with no symptoms of COVID-19 are being treated at the new hospital in Bhosari. While some beds are reserved for newborns, pregnant women, as of noon on Saturday, 289 patients were admitted here for treatment.

According to PCMC, out of 537 total patients, 278 have been cured while eight people have died. There are 251 active patients undergoing treatment in Pimpri-Chinchwad as well as outside (33 patients). Also, out of 90 non-PCMC patients under treatment here, 12 have died while 34 have been cured and discharged. There are still 44 patients admitted here. One non-PCMC COVID patient was admitted in hospital today.
