Pimpri, 15th December 2022: The first phase of the Balnagari Project, which is being built in Pimpri-Chinchwad city to educate children, has now been completed. In place of this project, the divisional centre of the Central Government’s Lalit Kala Academy will now be put on 15 acres of land.

As a result, the Municipal Corporation’s 20 crores investment in the Balnagari project has gone down the drain. The transfer of a 15-acre parcel of land to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) with a construction cost of 20 crores has been approved by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.

Through possession receipt, the vacant plot in J Block in Bhosari MIDC was given to the Municipal Corporation in 1984 by the MIDC. It covers 60,378 square metres or roughly 15 acres. Following the development of the reservation, it was decided to carry out the Balnagari project on this plot. The construction of this project began to provide information about services and institutions that offer general knowledge in a variety of fields, mainly keeping the subject of child education in mind. Rooms like the fire department, hospital, bank, police station, and post office are located here. Amphitheatres for entertainment, education, and other purposes for children were designed.

Stage/phase one of the Balnagari projects was finished on 25 May 2018 (Bhosari News). Under it, approximately 5,000 square metres of construction have been completed. It cost approximately 20 crores. Before the construction of the next phase of the project, expressions of interest were invited for the project’s execution. They didn’t hear back. During this period, painting colleges situated in different cities of the state as well as well-known associations like the Bombay Art Society were approached to give this space to the departmental focus of the Focal Government’s Lalit Kala Academy for the advancement of art in the state.

Accordingly, in July, Lalit Kala Akademi President Uttam Pacharane and several state representatives visited this project. It is requested that this land along with the construction on it be given to Lalit Kala Academy through the Municipal Corporation and the State Government because the site of this project is very useful for the construction of the departmental centre of Lalit Kala Akademi. Since the land of this project has been transferred free of cost from MIDC, it is necessary to take the approval of MIDC as well as the state government before transfer. Through the Municipal Corporation, approximately 5,000 square metres of construction have been completed at this location thus far. This building can be used, and future construction will be done through Lalit Kala Academy. The transfer of the 15-acre plot and the current Rs. 20 crores worth of construction to MIDC was approved at the standing committee meeting.
