Pimpri, 3rd June 2025: In a proactive move to ensure citizen safety during the upcoming monsoon season, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has appointed nodal officers at the ward office level to respond swiftly in case of natural disasters such as urban flooding.

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh issued official orders designating Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to oversee emergency preparedness and response efforts.

The disaster management plan includes establishing a central disaster control room, with ward-level nodal officers tasked with overseeing flood control measures, drain cleaning, and inter-departmental coordination.

The directive highlights the growing risk of severe flooding in the city due to heavy rainfall, stressing the need for timely intervention to safeguard life and property within the municipal limits.

“These appointments will play a crucial role in ensuring a swift and organized response during emergencies,” the official order stated. It also emphasized the need for coordination among various departments—including disaster management, engineering, water supply, public health, fire services, and power utilities—in accordance with PCMC’s flood control protocol.

The nodal officers are responsible for ensuring pre-monsoon activities such as drain cleaning are completed on schedule and for facilitating communication and action during flood-like situations.
