Chikhli, 6th November 2024: A case has been registered against three doctors and two nurses from a private hospital in Chikhli after alleged medical negligence resulted in the tragic death of a two-year-old boy. The child’s leg was severely burned below the knee by a warmer machine, according to a report from Sassoon Hospital’s committee, which confirmed negligence in the boy’s treatment. The incident occurred on 18th November 2023.

The deceased child has been identified as Diransh Ramakant Gadewar (2). His mother, Dipali Gadewar (36), a resident of Newale Wasti in Chikhli, filed a formal complaint at Chikhli Police Station. Based on her account, charges have been brought against Dr. Jitesh Madan Singh Dobhal, Dr. Rajnish Jagdamba Prasad Mishra, Dr. Rohan Pranhans Mali, and nurses Rachel Anil Dive and Savita Nandkishore Varwate.

According to the complaint, Diransh had been admitted to Imperial Hospital on Dr. Dobhal’s recommendation for symptoms of a cold and cough. On the morning of 18th November 2023, Dr. Mishra and Dr. Mali reportedly entered the room to take a sample from Diransh and asked his mother to step outside. Around 8 a.m., when Dipali returned, she discovered that her son’s legs below the knee had been severely burned by a warmer machine, injuries that led to his death.

Following the complaint, Diransh’s medical records were submitted to an expert committee at Sassoon Hospital, which recently determined that negligence on the part of the doctors and nurses contributed to the fatal outcome. As a result, a case has been registered at the Chikhli Police Station against the five healthcare professionals. Assistant Police Inspector Gomare is currently leading the investigation.
