Pimpri Chinchwad: Chemical Fire Erupts At Company Premises In Kudalwadi, Swift Action Averts Casualties
Pimpri Chinchwad, 17th February 2024: At 6:08 PM today, fire was reported at HI Enterprises Company, located near Rahmani Wajan Kata, Kudalwadi. The incident prompted an immediate response from fire stations in Pimpri, Bhosari, Moshi, Talwade, and Chikhali, which dispatched fire engines to the scene.
The nature of the materials involved, including aluminum metal powder and other chemical substances, presented challenges in firefighting. Traditional water-based methods were deemed ineffective, leading to the utilization of a substantial amount of foam. Additionally, tractors brought in sand, which was strategically spread over the fire, and a smothering method was employed to bring the flames under control, officials said.
There were no reported injuries or casualties resulting from the incident. However, the toxic smoke generated by the fire caused respiratory distress among the residents in the vicinity, with symptoms including difficulty breathing, and irritation of the eyes and running nose.
The firefighting operation lasted for approximately one hour before officials successfully managed to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and authorities are assessing the environmental impact of the incident.
