Talegaon, 21st January 2025: “From tackling criminal incidents to resolving domestic disputes, marital conflicts, and cases of child abuse, the police serve as a trusted lifeline for people in every situation. The Child-Friendly Room, though modest in size, carries a profound purpose—ensuring the protection and welfare of children,” stated Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Police Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad, during the inauguration of the Child-Friendly Police Unit at Talegaon MIDC Police Station.

Hope for the Children Foundation (HFCF), in collaboration with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Police, officially inaugurated the Child-Friendly Police Station Room at the Talegaon MIDC Police Station. Supported by Gestamp Automotive Pvt. Ltd., this initiative aims to create a protective environment for children and promote child-friendly practices within the police system.

Presiding over the ceremony, Choubey emphasized the significance of this step, saying, “The establishment of a child-friendly cell is not the end goal but the beginning of a broader effort. Through this initiative, police officers and staff will be trained and motivated to work diligently to keep children away from crime.”

The Child-Friendly Police Station Room has been designed to provide a safe and comforting space for children who may be victims of crime, in conflict with the law, or in need of assistance. The facility includes child-centric infrastructure and resources, ensuring a sensitive and caring approach to handling children’s cases.

This initiative aligns with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and represents a holistic approach to child safety and protection. It also focuses on prevention, care, and capacity building for police personnel to foster a child-friendly environment within the law enforcement framework.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Vishal Gaikwad, DCP (Zone 2); Dr. Vishal Hire, Assistant Commissioner of Police; Senior Police Inspector Ranjit Jadhav; Ajay Choudhary, CFO, Gestamp Automotive Pvt. Ltd.; and Dr. Caroline Audoir de Valter, CEO and Founder of HFCF.
