Pimpri-Chinchwad: Five policemen quarantined after suspect found COVID positive

Pimpri Chinchwad, May 23, 2020: A man, who was brought to a police chowky under the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate for questioning in a domestic issue between two brothers, has turned out to be Coronavirus positive. Now five policemen, who were present when he was brought, have been quarantined and their samples are being tested. Already 7 police personnel and officers of Pimpri Chinchwad police have been found COVID19 positive. Of these, one constable has been cured.

According to police, a domestic dispute between the two siblings had reached the police chowky. Police registered non-cognisable (NC) offence of one of them and issued good behaviour notice to another. Both were sent home. Later one had cold and cough and when he went to the district hospital in Aundh, his swab sample was collected for COVID test. And his report came positive.

After cops learnt that the man has been detected with Coronavirus, five policemen from the police chowky were quarantined. They will be medically examined, officials said. Till now seven police personnel and officers have been diagnosed with Coronavirus and one of them has been cured, while the others are still undergoing treatment.
