Pimpri-Chinchwad Included In ‘Cycle of Change’ Initiative Of Central Government

Pimpri-Chinchwad, February 23, 2021: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has participated in the ‘Cycle for Change’ initiative being implemented by the Central Government with the objective of making the citizens use bicycles as much as possible. In the first phase, 25 out of 41 cities in the country have been selected.

Pimpri-Chinchwad had participated in India Cycle for Change under the Clean India Healthy India initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Government of India. PCMC and Smart City jointly organized cyclothon at three places namely Chinchwad, Sangvi Phata, Gavjatra Maidan in Bhosari through the BRTS department.

According to PCMC, more than 1500 cyclists participated in the bicycle rally. Cycling is essential for maintaining good health along with saving fuel by avoiding air and noise pollution. To highlight the importance of cycling, a bicycle rally was organized on the Sangvi Phata-Jagtap Dairy-Sangvi Phata route with the participation of Lions Club, an international organization leading in social activities.

BRTS spokesperson Vijay Bhojane said, “Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has participated in the ‘Cycle for Change’ initiative through Smart City. In the first phase, 25 out of 41 cities in the country have been selected. This includes Pimpri-Chinchwad. The participation of the city in this competition will be a great help in strengthening the bicycle movement in the city.”
