Bhosari, 31st May 2024: A jewellery shop owner in Pimpri Chinchwad was defrauded of over Rs 1 crore 80 lakh in a gold transaction gone awry. The owner, a well-respected figure in the area, did not receive the expected delivery of gold he had ordered. This incident occurred between 27th October 2023, and 30th March 2024, in Indrayani Nagar, Bhosari.

Vilash Mahadev Bhamburdekar (60), a resident of Bhosari, filed a complaint at MIDC Bhosari Police Station. A case has been registered against Bhavesh Sampatraj Jain (43) and Mrinesh Pritam Jain (25), both residents of Mumbai.

According to police reports, the complainant owns a shop named Bhamburdekar Saraf & Jewelers (BSJ Jewelers) in Bhosari. He had placed a gold order with Bullion Metal LLP Company from Mumbai, as he had previously conducted transactions with them and trusted their reliability. The complainant transferred a total of Rs 1,87,66,097 in two transactions but did not receive either the gold or the transferred amount.

Upon inquiry, the company initially claimed there was a billing error and promised to rectify it. However, subsequent attempts to follow up were met with evasion tactics, including claims of being busy with a gold exhibition and ignoring phone calls. Frustrated, the complainant resorted to filing a complaint at the police station.

MIDC Bhosari Police has registered a case against the accused under IPC Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as a genuine forged document), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance to common intention). Police Sub-Inspector Ingale from MIDC Bhosari Police Station is conducting further investigations into the matter.
