Pimpri-Chinchwad: Man Steals Gold Worth Over Rs 16 Lakh From Cousin’s Home; Arrested Within 24 Hours

Moshi, 14th April 2025: A man who was entrusted with a spare key to his cousin’s home has been arrested for stealing 31 tolas (approximately 360 grams) of gold ornaments from the house in Moshi while the homeowner was away. The accused was nabbed by police within 24 hours of the theft coming to light.
The arrested individual has been identified as Gangadhar Raosaheb Telshinge (38), a resident of Moshi. The complaint was filed by his cousin, Jagdish Mahadev Telshinge (39), also from Moshi, at the MIDC Bhosari Police Station.
According to police, Jagdish had handed over a spare key to Gangadhar out of trust before leaving for his native village on February 19. Upon his return on April 9, he discovered that gold jewelry weighing 31 tolas had been stolen from his house. He immediately reported the theft to the police.
The Crime Branch Unit 1 reviewed CCTV footage from the residential society and found no signs of intrusion by any unknown individual. Investigators then focused on Gangadhar, having learned that he possessed the spare key. Acting on this lead, police located him loitering suspiciously at the KSB Chowk BRT bus stop.
Upon searching him, police found gold and silver ornaments hidden inside his shirt. A total of 29 tolas of gold and 16 tolas of silver—valued at ₹16,92,300—were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Gangadhar confessed to the theft. He has been taken into custody and handed over to the MIDC Bhosari Police for further investigation.
