Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Unveils 15 Green Polling Stations to Promote Eco-Friendly Voting Experience

Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th November 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has unveiled an eco-friendly initiative by setting up “Green Polling Stations” at 15 locations across the Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari constituencies for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. Each constituency will host five of these stations, featuring exhibitions of ornamental plants, fruit trees, medicinal herbs, and various palm species.
As part of the 2024 General Assembly Elections, the initiative is a component of the voter awareness campaign under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. This project, spearheaded by PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh and supported by Additional Commissioner and SVEEP Nodal Officer Vijaykumar Khorate, aims to blend civic responsibility with environmental education. Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade and Assistant Commissioner Avinash Shinde are also key contributors to this effort.
On voting day, Wednesday, 20th November, all polling stations will be equipped to facilitate a smooth voting process. The Green Polling Stations initiative seeks to not only increase voter participation but also raise awareness about environmental conservation.
Commissioner Shekhar Singh encouraged voters in Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari constituencies to actively participate in the elections and strengthen democracy. Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil highlighted the dual purpose of this program—encouraging voter turnout and promoting eco-consciousness.
