Reported by Varad Bhatkhande
Pimpri Chinchwad, 16th September 2024: For the grand procession of Ganesh Visarjan (immersion) tomorrow, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has made all necessary preparations. In Pimpri Chinchwad City, 85 Visarjan Ghats and 103 collection points for Ganesh idols and Nirmala (sacred offerings) have been established. Additionally, 15 decomposition centres for eco-friendly Ganesh Visarjan have been set up. Lifeguards will be stationed at 27 Visarjan Ghats, and medical teams will be on standby.
Tomorrow, most families and public Ganesh Mandals will perform Visarjan at river ghats in Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari. PCMC has provided various services and facilities to ensure this year’s Ganeshotsav concludes safely and with environmental care. To manage the 85 Visarjan Ghats and 103 collection points for Ganesh idols and Nirmalya, the Health Department has appointed 387 employees in three shifts. The 15 decomposition centres, each measuring 40 feet by 30 feet and five feet deep, will use a chemical process to decompose the Ganesh idols scientifically.
The PCMC Fire Brigade has deployed personnel at 27 Visarjan Ghats with necessary rescue equipment. Each Visarjan Ghat will have Sarpmitras, lifeguards, security guards, and fire officers for public safety. Well-equipped ambulances and medical teams will be stationed at the Visarjan sites, with additional medical officers, nurses, and helpers available at the Visarjan Ghats along with medical supplies and medicines. Garbage trucks and cleaning staff have been appointed to manage waste at the Visarjan Ghats.
Vijay Kumar Khorate, Additional Commissioner of PCMC, stated, “Visarjan Ghats, idol collection, and nirmalya collection centres have been arranged. A medical team is also on standby. Ganesh Mandals are encouraged to conduct environmentally responsible immersion processions.”
