Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrest Externed Criminal With Stolen Items Worth Rs 1.80 Lakh
Pimpri Chinchwad, 11th December 2024: An externed criminal has been caught by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police. A serial burglar and vehicle thief, six cases were registered against him. Items worth Rs 1.80 lakh have been seized from him. He was arrested while attempting to sell stolen mobile phones. The action was taken by the Property Cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC).
The arrested individual has been identified as Abhijeet Subhash Roy (25 years old, resident of Chikhali, native of West Bengal). Cases have been registered against him at two locations in Chakan and one each at Bhosari, Dighi, and Chikhali Police Stations. One case has also been registered against him at Tofkhana Police Station in Ahmednagar District.
The charges against him include theft, theft in a dwelling house or means of transportation or place of worship, trespassing, and housebreaking.
As part of an ongoing drive against burglars and robbers, Police Constable Maruti Jaybhaye received information from a trusted source that externed criminal Abhijeet Roy was in the PCPC limits and selling stolen phones under the jurisdiction of the Chakan Police Station. The Property Cell laid a trap and caught him. A motorcycle and stolen phones, all worth Rs 1.80 lakh, were seized from him. Another case has been registered at Chakan Police Station for violating the externment order. He is in the custody of Chakan Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Vishal Hire. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal, included Assistant Police Inspector Abhinay Pawar, Police Sub Inspector Bharat Gosavi, Police Constables Sanjay Gaware, Ganesh Hinge, Jameer Tamboli, Ashish Bankar, Vishal Gaikwad, Nitin Umarajkar, Maruti Jaybhaye, and Mohsin Attar.
