Pimpri-Chinchwad: Police Back Chakan Industry Amid Rising Safety Concerns; Assure Strict Action For Secure Environment
Pimpri, 10th April 2025: In an effort to maintain a fear-free atmosphere in the Chakan industrial belt, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have urged company owners and managers to immediately report any threats or instances of intimidation. Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey assured on Wednesday (9th April) that stringent action would be taken against any offenders following complaints.
Commissioner Choubey was addressing a meeting held at Hyundai’s Khodumbre facility, which brought together police officials and representatives from various companies operating in the Chakan industrial area. Present at the meeting were senior police officers including DCP (Zone 3) Dr. Shivaji Pawar, DCP (Traffic) Bapu Bangar, ACP (Industrial Grievance Cell) Vishal Hire, Senior Police Inspectors Devendra Chavan and Nitin Gite, as well as officials from MIDC, NHAI, and the Labour Commissioner’s office.
“The police are fully committed to ensuring peace and safety in the industrial zones within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate,” said Choubey. “To address industrial grievances promptly, we have established a dedicated Industrial Grievance Redressal Cell, headed by an officer of Assistant Commissioner rank.”
He emphasized the importance of prompt reporting and urged company management, workers, and citizens to use the emergency helpline 112, which dispatches assistance within five to six minutes. Choubey also encouraged industries to install high-quality CCTV cameras on their premises, including external areas and nearby public roads. “These cameras should have a minimum storage capacity of 15 to 30 days,” he advised.
“If any individual resorts to bullying or issues threats, complaints can be filed at the Mahalunge Police Station, or directed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner, or the Industrial Grievance Cell,” he added.
Highlighting traffic and security concerns, Choubey also appealed to company administrations to provide designated parking facilities within their premises. “Workers should avoid parking two- and four-wheelers on the road. If in-compound parking is not possible, companies must install CCTV cameras and deploy security personnel to prevent vehicle thefts and traffic congestion,” he said.
The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening collaboration between law enforcement and the industrial community, aimed at enhancing security, easing operations, and fostering a more business-friendly environment in one of Maharashtra’s most vital industrial hubs.
