Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Crack Down On Drunk Driving; 272 Booked On Holi

Pimpri, 15th March 2025: On the occasion of Holi (Dhulivandan), the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate launched a large-scale drunk driving crackdown at 25 locations across the city. As part of this special operation, 272 individuals were booked for driving under the influence. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bapu Bangar stated that the said cases will soon be forwarded to court for further legal proceedings.
According to the police, a heavy security deployment was in place during the festival to prevent any untoward incidents. Alongside regular security measures, a dedicated anti-drunk driving campaign was conducted by the traffic police. The operation, which ran from 7 am to 10 pm, resulted in hundreds of offenders being penalized.
The drive covered multiple locations, including Sangvi, Talawade, Dehu Road, Talegaon, Ravet, Hinjawadi, Wakad, Bhosari, and Chinchwad, ensuring strict enforcement across the city. Legal proceedings against all 272 offenders will be initiated in the coming days, with further action to be determined by the court.
DCP Bangar emphasized that such operations will continue to ensure road safety and prevent accidents caused by drunk driving. The police have urged citizens to act responsibly and avoid driving under the influence to protect themselves and others on the road.
