Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th December 2024: In the backdrop of New Year celebrations, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has deployed a large force to prevent any mishaps on New Year’s Eve. From the night of 31st December until the morning of 1st January, the force will be stationed throughout Pimpri Chinchwad. Every year, drunk driving cases peak during the year-end celebrations, and to prevent this, PCPC has increased security measures.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Administration has already issued instructions to restaurant operators and owners regarding the rules to be followed. It has been requested that sound systems be turned off after midnight. Although the police are implementing these measures, citizens must control themselves and celebrate responsibly.

Under PCPC jurisdiction, young people often celebrate at restaurants, clubs, pubs, and popular tourist spots in Maval and Mulshi Talukas. Strict action will be taken against individuals involved in drunk driving and causing disturbances. Breathalyzer checks will be conducted, and cases will be registered if drunk driving is detected. Special patrols will be deployed at temples, mosques, churches, malls, hotels, lodges, and other public places. Checkpoints will also be set up at key locations.

For security, the force will include 1 Additional Commissioner of Police, 6 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 8 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 46 Police Inspectors, 155 Assistant Police Inspectors and Police Sub Inspectors, 1,520 Police Constables, 1 Quick Response Team (QRT), 5 Riot Control Police (RCP) officers, 5 teams of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), and 70 wardens.

Senior Police Inspector and Public Relations Officer Digambar Suryawanshi said, “We have taken special measures for the safety of citizens. Everyone should follow traffic and social rules while celebrating the New Year. We will take strict action against those who break the rules.”
