Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO Opens Offline Booking for Fancy Car Numbers in Upcoming ‘MZ’ Registration Series

Pune, 17th December 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has formally announced the procedure for reserving fancy and preferred registration numbers for four-wheelers under the upcoming ‘MZ’ vehicle registration series, which will be introduced shortly.

As per the notification, interested vehicle owners can submit offline applications at the Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO office in Moshi on December 18, 2025, between 11 am and 2.30 pm, by paying the prescribed reservation fee.

Application Requirements and Submission Process

Applicants must submit their forms in the prescribed format along with a demand draft (DD) and self-attested copies of the following documents:
-Address proof
-Aadhaar card
-Identity proof
-PAN card

The demand draft should be drawn in favour of Deputy RTO, Pimpri-Chinchwad, from a nationalised or scheduled bank payable at Pune. Officials clarified that address verification will be carried out strictly as per provisions under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 and Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The list of available four-wheeler registration numbers under the MZ series will be displayed on the RTO notice board on December 19, 2025.

Applicants wishing to bid for specific numbers must submit a sealed envelope containing a higher-value DD by 2.30 pm on December 19. The bidding envelopes will be opened at 3.30 pm the same day in the chamber of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, in the presence of the registration authority and participating applicants.

The registration number will be allotted to the highest eligible bidder offering an amount above the base fee. Following the auction, unallotted numbers will be made available for online reservation.

Important Conditions for Applicants

The RTO has made it clear that:
Once allotted, a registration number cannot be altered or exchanged
If the reserved number is not used within 180 days, the allotment will be cancelled
The reservation fee will be forfeited in case of non-utilisation
Fees paid are non-refundable and non-adjustable
Any revision in rates will be applicable as per prevailing rules at the time of allotment

The Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO has advised applicants to strictly adhere to the prescribed schedule and documentation requirements to avoid rejection or loss of fees.
