Pimpri-Chinchwad, 9th September 2025: A tragic incident has claimed the life of 25-year-old Ashwini Kedari from Khed, a bright student who had cleared competitive exams and was preparing to join the police force. Ashwini, who aspired to one day serve as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) or District Collector, was slated to begin her training as a Police Sub-Inspector in January.

According to her brother-in-law Somnath Bache, the mishap occurred on the third day of Ganesh Chaturthi. That night, Ashwini heated water in a plastic drum using an immersion rod, intending to keep it warm for later. After returning to her studies, she accidentally dozed off without switching the heater off.

Around 3 a.m., she woke up to discover the water boiling. As she switched off the heater and tried to open the lid, the boiling water splashed out. She slipped in the process, and the scalding water poured over her body, causing 80% burns.

Ashwini was rushed to the hospital and later shifted to DY Patil Hospital in Pimpri, where she battled for 11 days under intensive treatment. Despite doctors’ efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.

Ashwini’s academic journey was marked by consistent excellence. She completed her schooling in Paloo village, Khed, scoring 93% in her SSC exams and emerging as her school topper. After Class 12, she pursued mechanical engineering in Pune before turning her focus to competitive examinations.

Her success in these exams had made her the first member of her family to secure a government post, filling her household with pride and hope.

A Dream Cut Short
Ashwini’s sudden demise has left her family and community in deep sorrow. What was supposed to be a celebratory year with her joining government service has instead ended in heartbreak. Her story, once a source of inspiration, has now become a reminder of a dream left unfulfilled.
