Pistol at Mother’s Head, Woman Kidnapped: Ex-Daund Civic Chief Among Named in FIR
Pune, 1st August 2026: Police have registered a case against 11 persons, including controversial former Daund Municipal Council President Badshah Sheikh, in connection with the alleged armed kidnapping of a young woman from her residence in Daund town.
The accused have been booked under provisions related to kidnapping, robbery, house trespass, criminal intimidation, outraging the modesty of a woman, the Arms Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
According to the FIR, the incident took place around midnight on July 28, when a group of armed men allegedly arrived at the victim’s house carrying swords, sickles, and a pistol. The complainant alleged that the accused assaulted the woman’s mother and threatened her by placing a pistol against her head.
The FIR further states that the group forcibly entered the house, allegedly looted cash kept in a cupboard and snatched a gold chain from the complainant. The accused also allegedly abused the family using caste-based slurs before forcibly taking the young woman and pushing her into a white Hyundai Verna car, after which they fled the scene.
Based on the complaint, those named in the FIR include Nadeem Anwar Sheikh of Kumbhar Galli, Daund; Badshah Adam Sheikh of Kumbhar Galli, Daund; Shafeeq Mulani of Mald, Daund taluka; Irfan alias Wasim Anwar Sheikh, a resident near St. Sebastian School, Daund; Faizal Mehfooz Kazi of Nene Chawl, Daund; Ashpak Sameer Sheikh and Aftab Sameer Sheikh, both residents of Bhimnagar, Daund; Arbaaz Anwar Sheikh of Kumbhar Galli, Daund; along with three unidentified persons.
Police have invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 140 (kidnapping), 310 (robbery), 332 (house trespass), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 74 (outraging the modesty of a woman). Relevant sections of the Arms Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been applied.
The investigation is being carried out by Daund Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bapurao Dadas.
Previous Cases Against Badshah Sheikh
Badshah Sheikh, a former president of the Daund Municipal Council and former director of the Daund Agricultural Produce Market Committee, has faced multiple criminal cases in the past.
According to police records cited in the report, a case was registered against Sheikh and 19 others on October 20, 2022, for allegedly outraging the modesty of a young woman and carrying out a life-threatening assault on her and her family members. Another case, registered on December 8, 2022, named Sheikh among six accused for allegedly assisting his son, Wasim Sheikh, in a rape-related case.
In a separate incident, Sheikh was booked by Kotwali Police in Ahilyanagar on June 28, 2025, after allegedly making objectionable remarks about the family of Ahilyanagar MLA Sangram Jagtap and using abusive language against Jat MLA Gopichand Padalkar and Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge during a public gathering outside Daund Police Station on June 27, 2025.
Police are continuing their investigation into the latest case.
