Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India 18th July 2023: Inaugurating the new integrated terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the substantial investment his government had made in the development of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He proudly stated that their administration had allocated twice the amount of funds compared to the previous government for the progress of these islands.

During his address at the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized that the surge in tourism on the islands was a promising sign of enhanced employment opportunities for the local populace. He lamented that, in the past, due to divisive and self-centred politics, developmental initiatives failed to reach the interior regions and isolated island locations.

PM Modi attributed the growth in tourism to the developmental work undertaken by his government, asserting that since 2014, the number of tourists visiting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands had doubled. He expressed delight over the significant rise in visitors who now come to indulge in various activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving, and other exciting experiences available on the islands.
