PM Modi Surveys Landslide-Affected Wayanad, Meets With Victims
New Delhi, 10th August 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kerala on Saturday morning to assess the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad. The visit included an aerial survey of the worst-hit regions, followed by interactions with victims housed in relief camps. The Prime Minister’s tour is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide support to the affected communities.
Upon his arrival in Kerala, PM Modi, accompanied by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, conducted an aerial survey of the regions devastated by landslides. The Prime Minister personally inspected the severely impacted areas of Punchirimattam, Mundakkai, and Chooralmala, where the extent of the damage has been most pronounced.
In addition to the aerial survey, PM Modi is scheduled to visit relief camps to meet with those displaced by the disaster. He will also tour a local hospital to assess the medical facilities provided to the injured. The Prime Minister’s visit comes in the wake of a massive landslide that occurred on 30th July in Chooralmala and Mundakkai, following heavy rains. The disaster claimed the lives of over 400 people, leaving many more displaced and in need of immediate assistance.
