PMC Cuts Water Supply To Pune Cantonment Areas Over Non-Payment Of Bills

Pune, 16th December 2021: Residents of Pune Cantonment faced a water crisis on Wednesday as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) cut water supply due to non-payment of water bills of Rs 77 crore.

According to PMC, residents in the PCB areas outstanding bill of Rs 29 crore while the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) owes Rs 48 crore. The payments are due for over four years.

“We had issued notices to PCB as well as the residents several times but they did not pay the bills. We had no other option but to cut the water supply”, a senior PMC official said.

PCB Chief Executive Officer Amit Kumar said there is a financial crunch, hence the delay in payment. “We are in the process to make the payment in installments,” he added.
