Shaniwar Peth, 11th January 2026: Highlighting the growing challenges faced by residents during redevelopment of old wada structures and housing societies, Raghavendra Bappu Mankar on Sunday announced plans to set up a dedicated ‘Redevelopment Forum’ in PMC Ward 25. He made the announcement while interacting with citizens during a campaign outreach in the Shaniwar Peth–Mahatma Phule Mandai area.

Ward 25, known for its historic wadas and ageing residential buildings, has been witnessing persistent redevelopment hurdles, particularly for senior citizens who often struggle with complex procedures and repeated visits to civic and legal offices. Addressing these concerns, Mankar said the proposed forum would function as a support system to provide structured guidance and practical solutions for redevelopment-related issues.

According to him, a separate facilitation cell will be established under the forum to assist residents with legal advice, documentation requirements, and procedural clarity. The initiative will also offer guidance on deemed conveyance, legal compliance, and access to professional support required for smooth redevelopment. Mankar said the forum aims to reduce hardships faced by elderly residents and ensure that redevelopment processes become more transparent and citizen-friendly.

He added that the initiative would benefit not only senior citizens but also families living in old wadas and societies who are keen on redevelopment but are held back by legal and administrative complexities.

Raghavendra Bappu Mankar is contesting the civic elections from Ward 25 along with Swarada Bapat, Kunal Tilak, and Swapnali Pandit. As part of the campaign, meetings were held with traders at Mahatma Phule Mandai in the presence of Hemant Rasane on Sunday. Taking advantage of the weekly holiday, a foot march was also organised across Shaniwar Peth, Narayan Peth, and Budhwar Peth, further intensifying the campaign activities in the ward.
