The metro construction work is going on in the river basin area in Sangamwadi. To reach the construction site, a ramp was made, for which a large amount of debris was brought there from outside. After receiving a complaint regarding this, the assistant commissioner of Dhole-Patil Road ward office visited the construction site. It was found that the debris was brought from outside in the river basin area which may impact the river ecology in future.
PMC issued notice to the contractor and asked him to pay the penalty of 25,000, but the contractor refuses to pay penalty stating that the work is of MahaMetro and they have permission from PMC for building the ramp.
“We have issued notice to the contractor. Though the work is undertaken by government organisation, no illegal or wrong construction will be tolerated”, said Kunal Khemanar, additional municipal commissioner.
