PMC, Pune District health office to acquire 50 more ambulances for Covid-19 services

Pune, July 5, 2020: As the number of Covid-19 cases keeps rising, the demand for ambulances has also increased. At present, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has 54 ambulances of its own and 58 from the collector’s office. So, a total of 112 ambulances are available for Covid-19 services as of now. The civic body also has six vehicles for providing cremation services for the succumbed Covid-19 patients and two vehicles for other cremation purposes.

As the city is planning to ramp up testing with the gradual increase in Covid-19 patients, there’s a high chance of an increase in critical patients who will require ambulance services. That is why PMC is planning to procure 50 more ambulances from through the district administration.

According to the PMC, the total number of Coronavirus positive patients till date has reached 20668 out of which 12689 have been cured while 703 have died. There are still 7276 active patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals. They include 385 critical patients out of which 56 are on ventilator support.
