PMC to purchase 120 buses, PCMC 80 buses for public transport utility PMPML

Pimpri, October 4, 2016 : In a major boost to the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), both Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will purchase 200 buses for the public transport company.

Each 32-seater bus will cost Rs 25 lakhs and the PCMC will buy 80 buses  at a cost of Rs 20 crores. PMC will purchase 120 buses. Both civic bodies will buy the buses and handover them to PMPML.

Earlier as per agreement between PMC, PCMC and PMPML a total of 1550 new buses have to be added to the fleet. Of this 500 buses will be purchased by the two municipal corporations, 500 will be purchased on loan and remaining 550 will be taken on rent.

However later on it was decided that the corporations will buy 200 buses and remaining buses will be taken on loan.
