Pune, 27th December 2021: To encourage the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles (EV), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will soon develop 500 charging stations and 200 docking stations in Pune. For this, PMC has invited the tenders.

Under the ‘e-bike rating’ initiative, e-bikes will be made available to the citizens at the lowest possible rates on a rental basis. The PMC will also get a share in the income generated by the company selected for this project and Pune will be the first city in the country to implement such a project.

The tender has been invited as per the guidelines given by the Maharashtra state government to reduce pollution by increasing the use of environment-friendly vehicles.

Accordingly, 700 strategic locations have been selected for e-bike charging stations and docking stations in Pune city including roads, parks and colleges. To make the e-bikes easily available to the citizens, there will be a charging station in every one square kilometre area.

At the charging station, bike charging will be possible for those who own their bike. Also, a battery swipe facility will be provided at the docking station.
