Pune, December 24, 2020: The administration has announced an express bus scheme to provide Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus service to the passengers in the shortest possible time. This will be implemented from Friday (December 25) on 11 routes in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. This is the first time such an experiment is being carried out in Pune.
BEST is running an express bus service in Mumbai. On the same lines, PMPML bus service will be implemented in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. There will be no extra charge from the passengers for the express bus. The scheme will be implemented on existing bus tickets, said PMPML chairman and managing director Rajendra Jagtap.
The express bus service will be available to passengers every 30 to 60 minutes. A panel will be put up on the bus so that the passengers can identify it. This will reduce the travel time of the passengers.
How will express bus service work?
For example, on Nigdi-Katraj route (Route No. 42) the bus currently runs 29 km. This route has 59 stops.
