PMPML Warns: Rule-Breaking Bus Drivers and Conductors to Face Suspension in Pune

Pune, 7th April 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has issued a stern warning to all bus drivers and conductors operating in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and surrounding areas: any violation of traffic rules will now result in immediate suspension.

The move comes in response to a rising number of complaints from commuters and citizen groups about reckless driving and repeated violations by PMPML and private bus staff.

Common Violations Reported:
– Using mobile phones while driving
– Stopping buses on zebra crossings
– Smoking inside buses
– Not updating or displaying route boards
– Jumping traffic signals
– Ignoring lane discipline
– Overspeeding

In an official statement, PMPML emphasized that disciplinary action will be taken after investigation if any staff member is found guilty of such misconduct. The aim is to enhance road safety and provide more reliable service to passengers.

Revised Code of Conduct for PMPML Staff:
– Strictly no mobile phone use while driving
– Follow all traffic rules and signals
– No smoking inside the bus at any time
– Stop only at designated bus stops, not on zebra crossings
– Maintain proper lane discipline
– Avoid overspeeding under all circumstances

PMPML has also instructed depot managers to regularly monitor drivers and conductors and ensure these guidelines are strictly followed.
