Pune : The Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited has decided to stop the supply of Compressed Natural Games (CNG) to the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) from today (May 24). Following the decision of the MNGL, around 1235 PMPML buses, the lifeline of Pune's local transport, are set to be affected. The dues have mounted to Rs 47.22 crore over the last two years and despite sending frequent reminders to PMPML, the MNGL received no response or assurance for the clearance of dues, which forced the MNGL to take this drastic measure, Santosh Sontakke, Director, Commercial, MNGL, said addressing a press briefing. Also attending the press conference were Supriyo Haldar, MNGL Managing Director, Sujit Ruikar (Senior Manager), S Chandramohan (Chief Commercial Officer), Mayuresh Ganu (Senior Manager, Commercial), Milind Dakhole (Senior Manager, Marketing). "MNGL is a joint venture between GAIL India Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation in which the Maharashtra Government has invested in through Maharashtra Industrial Corporation," Haldar pointed out. "In Pune the MNGL supplies CNG to the PMPML, but we have come to a situation wherein the transport service has not been paying for the gas used. The due have mounted to Rs 47.22 crore," Haldar said.
