Pune, 14th May 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has announced a six-month extension for the regularisation of gunthewari houses and other constructions, allowing residents to apply for regularisation until 30th September. The previous deadline had been set for 21st March, but the extension was granted due to a lower-than-expected response from citizens during the initial period.

According to PMRDA, this decision aims to give more homeowners within its jurisdiction a chance to legalize their properties. However, the authority clarified that structures located in red zones, buffer zones, hill tops, hill slopes, agricultural and no-development zones, forest areas (both government and private), as well as those built on roads and reservations under the regional plan, riverbeds, and government lands, will not be eligible for regularisation.

The PMRDA had initially set the deadline for regularisation applications to 21st March, but after reviewing the response, opted to extend the window by another six months. This move is expected to benefit many residents seeking to bring their properties into compliance with regional regulations.
