Poona Club and PYC Join Hands to Host the First-Ever Poona Club–PYC Pickleball Tournament 2025
Pune, 30th October 2025: Two of Pune’s most prestigious and historic institutions — The Poona Club and PYC Hindu Gymkhana — are coming together to host the inaugural Poona Club–PYC Pickleball Tournament, a landmark event celebrating sportsmanship, camaraderie, and collaboration. The tournament will take place on November 1st and 2nd, 2025, at the Poona Club Pickleball Courts located within the club’s Swimming Pool premises.
The event will feature 40 Doubles Teams comprising members from both clubs, playing in a mixed doubles format that blends the best of both communities rather than pitting them against each other.
Matches will be held from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM over the two days; across 3 age categories – Age 16-32, Age 33-50 & Age 50+
This unique initiative is sponsored by the Pusalkar Foundation, with The High Spirits Café as the hospitality partner and Jehangir Hospital as the health partner.
Tournament coordinators Mr. Sanchit Divadkar and Mr. Nandan Dongre shared their enthusiasm for this collaborative sporting effort.
“This is not about Poona Club versus PYC — it’s about both clubs coming together to celebrate sport and friendship,” said Mr. Divadkar. “We believe this event marks the beginning of a new era of inter-club collaboration in Pune.”
Mr. Dongre added, “Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide, and this joint effort will serve as a model for how heritage clubs can unite to promote emerging sports while strengthening community ties.”
The Poona Club–PYC Pickleball Tournament 2025 is envisioned as the first of many collaborative sports initiatives between the two institutions. Plans are already underway to extend this spirit of partnership to other disciplines such as tennis, badminton, and table tennis, creating a broader platform for members to connect through shared sporting passion.
This collaboration between two of Pune’s oldest and most respected clubs underscores the belief that when clubs come together, the community grows stronger — both on and off the court.
