Pune, March 7, 2023: Former Ambassador Anup Mudgal, who is a member of the FICCI Task Force, has advocated for the need for digitisation of ports, which will be helpful for the Blue Economy, which has enormous potential in India.

“Blue Economy is an economy associated with or within the water. It has several elements including conventional ones and news ones like Marine Biotechnology. The Blue Economy thus has a lot of opportunities. There is a lot of scope for enhancing efficiency of Indian ports, which in turn will make them more sustainable. A key to port modernization lies in their digitisation and digital connectivity. Thus, it will add value to Blue Economy productivity,” Mudgal said.

Dr Apurva Palkar of Maharashtra Skills University, Prof Anamika Barua of IIT-Guwahati and Prafull Talera, Advisor, Maritime Research Centre, and Ashwin Shroff of Excel Industries, Mumbai, who were present also spoken on various aspects of Underwater Domain Awareness.

Mudgul also said that there was a lot of gap with regard to knowledge that is created and the policy which is generated and as far as the Blue Economy is concerned, we have knowledge in silos, but do not convert it into solutions.
