‘Prashanti’ to feature dances for stress-relief on September 30

Nritya Shiromani Dr Urvashi Shrivastava and her disciples to perform dances based on nine moods

Pune, September 27: A unique-dance show ‘Prashanti’ featuring different types of dances including Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Odissi, meant for stress-relief, will be held on September 30.

The show organized by ‘Urvashi Kala Srishti Dance Academy’, featuring Nritya Shiromani Dr Urvashi Srivastava and her disciples, would be held at the Ramkrishna More Natyagruha in Chinchwad from 5 PM onwards. The entry is free for all.

Sharing details about the show, Dr Urvashi said, “Dances based on nine moods or themes would be performed in the show, which is happening for the first time after COVID-19 pandemic. The nine themes on which the dances would be performed are – ‘Prathana – instrumental dance, classical – Odissi – ‘Geet Govind’, Ganesh Vandana, bhajan, old is gold, folk dance, contemporary, nature’s dance and fusion.”

According to Dr Urvashi, the show highlights dances used for reducing stress and developing overall personality.

‘Urvashi Kala Srishti’ is unique dance institute where all the Indian cclassical dances and folk dances are taught to the girls in the age group of 7-55 years.

Dr. Shrivastava was honoured with the degrees of D.Sc and D.Lt in dance therapy from IOWA, USA and Netherlands. She has a Ph.D in Psychology and runs a clinic on guidance and counseling, and is known for her unique choreography of stress reducing dances and dance therapy. She has also authored a book titled ‘Stress Management And Dance’. Her Stress Reducing Dance Choreography, Commonly known as SRD, has been patented in the USA.
