Principal Secy Tourism flags off Sprint Rafting event
REASI, MARCH 12 – Principal Secretary, Tourism department Sandeep Kumar Nayak today flagged off the Sprint Rafting event in Chenab river at Baradari, during the 2nd National level White Water River Rafting Championship.
The three day event was organized by the Tourism Department in collaboration with District administration which concluded today.
Director Tourism Jammu R.K Verma, ADDC Bhawani Singh Rakwal, Joint Director Tourism Namrata Dogra, Deputy Director Tourism, Publicity, S.K Atri , Deputy Director Tourism Vinakshi Koul, Assistant Director Tourism Ashima Sher and concerned officers, senior officers of Para Military forces, prominent citizens and participants were present on the occasion.
About eleven teams from Army, BSF, Air force, JKP, Tourism Department, ITBP and two local teams participated in the event
While speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary said that the event would promote and boost adventure tourism in district Reasi which has has a lot of tourism potential. He added that the success of the event would go a long way in promoting adventurous spirit and boost ethos of sportsmen spirit among the participants.
Sandeep Nayak said that the Rafting championship would be held twice in a year on a mega scale in Reasi, in order to develop it as an adventure hub. He added that the Adventure sports in the Chenab would attract and divert tourists/pilgrims of Mata Vaishno devi and Shiv Khori towards the region .
Cultural show was also presented by the artists of JKAACL which was highly applauded by the gathering.
Later, the prizes were also distributed among the winners of the Sprint championship. The team of Indian Army bagged first prize while as 2nd and 3rd prize was clinched by J&K Police and Border Security Force teams respectively.
