Prostitution Racket Busted at Spa in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar; Two Arrested

Kalyani Nagar, 17th May 2025: Yerawada Police and Unit 4 of the Pune Crime Branch busted a human trafficking racket being run under the guise of a spa in Kalyani Nagar. Two suspects have been arrested, while the alleged mastermind remains absconding.
The incident unfolded on Friday (16 May) when authorities raided Nidra Body Spa, located at Goodwill Enclave, based on a tip-off. During the raid, three women were rescued. They were allegedly coerced into sex work after being lured with false promises of financial gain.
The arrested accused have been identified as Harshvardhan Singh Bharat Modasiya (22), a resident of Koregaon Park, and Asaful Islam Mujibur Rahiman (23), hailing from Nagaon, Assam. They were taken into custody in the early hours of Saturday, 17 May, around 3:10 am. A third suspect, Junaid Farukh Shaikh—believed to be the owner of the spa—is currently on the run.
Police have registered the case under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, as well as Sections 143 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the FIR lodged by Police Constable Mayuri Nalawade, the accused were running a prostitution racket by enticing women with monetary promises and then exploiting them for commercial sex.
Authorities seized ₹15,000 in cash, a mobile phone worth ₹10,000, and condoms from the premises. The estimated value of the recovered items is ₹25,000, informed Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, in-charge of Yerawada police station.
Police Inspector (Crime) Vijay Thakur of Yerawada Police Station is leading the investigation.
