Pune: State Level Committee Formed To Amend Land, Revenue Laws In Maharashtra, Suggestions Invited From Citizens

Pune, 7th February 2024: A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Umakant Dangat, a retired officer of the Indian Administrative Service, has been established to reassess the scope of revenue offices in the state. The aim is to introduce new offices and make necessary amendments to existing revenue laws.

Varsha Ladda-Untwal, the Deputy Commissioner of the General Administration Department and Member Secretary of the Committee, has emphasized the importance of timely suggestions for amendments to revenue laws. Suggestions are invited until February 16, 2024.

This committee has been constituted as per the order dated 25th October 2023 of Revenue and Forest Department, Maharashtra State Government. This committee will study and submit a report to the government regarding the necessary changes in the important laws related to revenue work due to the matters affecting the daily life of common citizens, change in social conditions and other ancillary matters.

Suggestions to amend the Maharashtra Prevention of Fragmentation and. Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1947; the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948 and the Rules thereunder, the Maharashtra Agricultural Lands (Ceiling on Holdings) Act, 1961 and the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966 and the Rules thereunder relating to the Revenue Department, can be sent to the office of the Committee in person, by post, by email ([email protected] ) or to Member Secretary and Deputy Commissioner (General Administration), Pune Divisional Commissionerate, Vidhan Bhawan, Bundagarden Road, Pune- 411 001.

Varsha Ladda-Untwal, deputy commissioner of general administration department and member secretary of the committee, said that those who want to submit suggestions can do so by 11 am on February 16.
