Pune, 1st July 2021: Rahul Patil, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF), has assured his support to assist in making 10 more urban forests like Anand Van on NIBM Road.

Maharashtra Forest Department has appreciated the hard work of Anand Van Mitra Mandal (AVMM) for their work in saving nature and maintaining urban forests like Anand Van for many years and set a good example for the entire country for creating urban forests.

“AVMM members and volunteers are planting trees since 2015-16 and have helped increase the green cover”, Patil said in an appreciation letter.

Anand Van is 40-acre forest land in Mohammadwadi. Before turning into an urban forest, Anand Van was an infertile barren land. With the assistance of the Maharashtra forest department, Anand Van Mitra Mandal led by Praveen Kumar, citizens, and dedicated volunteers transformed the fruitless slope into green land and planted numerous native trees, and created many water bodies.

AVMM is a registered “Public Charitable Trust” with its prime activity aiming to create urban forests.
