Pune: 10-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted in Hadapsar Amid Heavy Rainfall
Hadapsar, 12th May 2024: A 10-year-old boy was electrocuted after accidentally stepping on a live wire submerged in a puddle of water. The incident occurred in front of the handball stadium on D P Road at Sadesatranali in Hadapsar, Pune, around 7 p.m. on Saturday, during heavy rainfall.
Identified as Rohit Subhash Mandalkar, the young victim resided near the PMC Colony on D P Road.
DCP (Zone V) R Raja stated, “The boy was crossing the road to return home when he inadvertently came in contact with the wire, resulting in electrocution.”
Local resident Rakesh Gondhale revealed, “My brother, Bhima, swiftly pulled the boy out of the puddle after he lost consciousness. Despite our immediate efforts including chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, we were unable to revive him. Rushing him to a nearby hospital, the medical team there made diligent attempts to save him, but unfortunately, he succumbed.”
Authorities disclosed that they were awaiting the autopsy report from Sassoon Hospital as investigations into the incident continue.*
