Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th September 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has made arrangements at 104 locations along the Pavana, Mula and Indrayani rivers for Ganesh idol immersion during the upcoming immersion day. The civic body has put in place sanitation, health, safety and other facilities for devotees and appealed to citizens to celebrate an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav.

Immersion facilities have been set up at locations including Subhash Ghat in Pimpri, Ahilyadevi Holkar Ghat, Vetal Maharaj Ghat, Sangvi, Wakad Gaothan Ghat, Thergaon Bridge Ghat in Chinchwad, Jadhavwadi Ghat, Ravet, Indrayani river ghats and Moshi quarry.

In view of the expected crowds, separate entry and exit routes have been created at the immersion sites. The civic administration is also taking measures to prevent mud, slippery surfaces and waterlogging at the ghats. Additional manpower has been deployed to maintain cleanliness.

Nirmalya collection tanks have been installed to ensure floral offerings and other waste do not enter rivers or other water bodies. Arrangements have also been made for the immediate collection of waste generated at the immersion sites.

Security arrangements have been strengthened at the ghats, with CCTV systems, lifeguards, fire brigade personnel and disaster management teams deployed. Directional and location signboards have also been installed to help devotees complete the immersion process smoothly.

The 104 immersion locations have been distributed among the civic ward offices — A Ward 10, B Ward 14, C Ward 12, D Ward 12, E Ward 13, F Ward 11, G Ward 6, H Ward 12, J Ward 9 and L Ward 5.

PCMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi appealed to citizens to opt for eco-friendly celebrations and avoid polluting rivers, streams and other water bodies.

“Citizens should preferably immerse Shadu clay Ganesh idols at home in clean water. Everyone should celebrate an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav to prevent pollution of rivers and other water bodies and cooperate with the civic administration in creating a clean and beautiful Pimpri Chinchwad,” he said.
