Pimpri, 28th November 2023: The Maharashtra State Examination Council conducts annual scholarship examinations for students in the 5th and 8th grades. As the academic year 2023-24 approaches, numerous schools have enrolled and completed student application forms for the upcoming scholarship examination.

However, as of now, 119 schools in the city have yet to fulfil the payment requirements for admission and examination fees, encompassing 2,166 students. Additionally, some schools have not initiated the registration process. The deadline for submitting application forms, along with the requisite fees, is set for November 30.

A total of 12,223 students from both classes have registered for the scholarship examination scheduled for February 2024. The state government’s school education department has revised the total fee structure for the scholarship examinations in classes V and VIII, with backward and disabled students facing a fee of Rs 125, while other students are required to pay a total fee of Rs 200.

The registration and application process for schools and students commenced on September 1, 2023, resulting in 417 schools in the city registering for the scholarship exam. Notably, applications from 12,223 students have been received, with 6,629 students registering for class V and 5,594 students for class VIII. However, the fees for 2,166 students in 119 schools have not been settled yet. These schools have been given until November 30 to complete the school registration and student application process, including the payment of regular fees.

Concerns have been raised as numerous schools have either not registered or failed to pay the requisite fees for the scholarship examination. The active participation of schools is crucial to ensuring the maximum number of students take part in the examination. Instructions have been issued to the concerned schools, and a positive response has been received from many, according to Subhash Suryavanshi, Scholarship Coordinator at Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
