Kondhwa, 28th November 2023: This afternoon, a gas pipeline owned by Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) suffered a rupture in Parge Nagar, Kondhwa, Pune. The incident took place around 2.30 pm. Electricity supply has been disconnected as a precautionary measure.

The incident occurred near Parge Nagar when an under-construction site began road excavation, inadvertently causing damage to the pipeline with digging machines.

Shrikant Avchar from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) told Punekar News, “the power cuts will last another 2-3 hours.”

An MNGL official from the area has confirmed the occurrence and assured that the resulting fire has been successfully brought under control and contained. Given the isolated nature of the location, there has been no significant disruption to gas services. The fire is entirely contained, and residents can rest assured. Immediate water spraying was deployed in the affected area to manage the situation.

Amol Hatti from MNGL added, “The damage was caused due to uninformed digging work being done on the road. Our emergency team reached the spot, closed the gas valve from both sides and is currently working on the restoration of the site. The work will be done soon.”

Former MLA Mahadev Babar reported that no injuries were recorded during the incident, providing a sigh of relief to the community. MNGL is actively addressing the aftermath, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the residents.
