Pune: 12 Oxygen Cylinders Stolen Before Being Delivered To COVID Hospital

Chakan, September 13, 2020: Oxygen cylinders are needed during the treatment when the health of patients worsen due to Coronavirus disease (COVID19). The oxygen supply is much in demand by hospitals nowadays.

Meanwhile, the theft of 12 oxygen cylinders kept in a tempo has been reported in Chakan. The owner of the tempo has filed a complaint with the police. He said that he had parked the tempo near his house on Friday night. After waking up the Saturday morning when he went to the tempo, the oxygen cylinders were missing. Those cylinders were to be delivered to a COVID Hospital.

There were 12 oxygen cylinders and seven acetylene cylinders in the tempo, and all were stolen. The demand for oxygen cylinders during coronavirus has increased significantly. The police have alerted all the nearby hospitals that if a person offers to give them oxygen cylinders, they should immediately inform the police.

The owner of the tempo collects oxygen cylinders from a plant in Chakan MIDC area and delivers them daily to hospitals. Police say that this is the first time when a case of theft of oxygen cylinder has been registered here. The investigation of the case is going on and efforts are being made to apprehend the thieves.
